Elva Gamino-Charette
Founder/President/Chairman
Elva grew up in Illinois and graduated from the Western Illinois University with a BS in Education and a BA in Spanish. She began her career as an Elementary School Teacher from 1974 to 1984 teaching Bilingual Education and Elementary School. She then decided to make a career change and attended Palmer College of Chiropractic, in Davenport Iowa, graduating in 1987. Elva moved to Arizona in 1987 and has been practicing as a Doctor of Chiropractic since, loving every day helping others. “The measure of true health is not only being symptom free, it is also being in tune with life. I relate with those battling cancer not only from a loved one’s point of view but also from a Doctor’s point of view.”
Amanda Charette
Founder/Vice Chairman
Amanda attends Sandra Day O’Connor High School, enrolled in all honor classes and carrying a 4.5 grade point average. She is also on the Varsity Tennis Team. “I look forward to supporting the success and growth of my father’s memorial fund”.
Barbara Goldmunz
Vice President/Director
Barbara grew up on the east coast where she was a social worker for many years, working for many different types of agencies. Barbara has been a practicing Chiropractor in Phoenix for the last 10 years. She has also volunteered for the Aids Project and has traveled to Mexico to do Chiropractic work. “I look forward to administering the NJC Memorial Fund. With my experience as an owner of my own business I will enjoy forming and administering our objectives as a non-profit. I have known Elva for over 10 years and have worked with her on many projects.”
Lorraine Cruden
Treasurer/Secretary/Director
Lorraine grew up in Toronto, Canada and graduated with honors from Ryerson Politechnical Institute with a Bachelor of Business Degree, majoring in Computer Programming. Lorraine enjoyed a ten year career at Toronto Dominion Bank and then at Systemhouse Inc., progressing to the level of Project Manager, before moving to Arizona with her husband. Since relocating Lorraine has volunteered at the Glendale Public Library and with Aids Project Arizona. She formed a small business with a friend making hand made soap and other personal items and has been a Stampin Up Demonstrator. “I have been friends with Elva and Norm for over 10 years. It is a privilege to work with Elva on NJC in honor of Normand.”
Sue Ann Sunderland
Director
As a wife, mother of four children, RN and spiritual advisor, Sue has many years of experience walking alongside of people in crises. She has been trained in crisis intervention, stress management, grief counseling and Biblical discipleship. Sue has been a member of the American Association of Christian counselors for several years and is currently on staff part time at a local church working with women in crises. She enjoys Bible Study, running, reading and cooking. Her association with NJC Memorial Fund began at its conception and she is excited to participate in meeting the practical needs of families struggling with Lung Cancer.
Candi Frost
Director
Candi was born and raised in Seattle, Washington where she graduated from Shoreline High School and later attended University of Washington to study acting. She moved to Arizona in 1971 and worked for American Express while raising her family of four children. Candi moved back to Washington for several years to work in her father’s beauty school and then returned to Arizona to open her own four salons in Sears. Candi sold these stores after ten years. Candi then went on to volunteer with Arizona AIDS Project, running their kids program and running the arts and crafts department at the summer camp, camp Hakuna Matata. She also worked as an office manager for two local chiropractors and currently owns her own business, Fairy Dust Creations, making bath and body products.
